Sharpies, caffiene and lighting equipment; Ah the life of a Techie!
This was taken during tech weekend for FDU's performance of Cabaret written during the Golden Age of the Musical by the famous Kander and Ebb. This shot I feel captures the essance of technical theatre work; I sat behind that light board for almost two days straight while we set things up.
The two (unknowing) techie subjects in the background are Erica (left) our Set Designer and Audrey L. (right) our Master Electrician.
My only wish was that the people who developed my film had better scanners.....
Camera: Nikon FG
Film: 400 Kodak
Taken at Dreyfuss Theatre, FDU Campus
Hmm. You need more coke. At least its a fancy shmancy lightboard...and what the hell are they doing with a ladder? it must be a big ladder....if it reaches the lights and all... Yay for techies. The work is never done ><

Yeah, they're re-hanging the curtain actually because it fell down. Again. It was only hung up with safety pins. -.- But yeah, there certainly was enough caffiene available that week...

I love this picture..it definately does capture the life of a techie. I'm a light proffesional in the making ;-;
I'm in high school still but I can run our light board like the back of my hand (which made no sense, but you know what I'm going for). What kind of a board is that? We own a Strand board from the 90's. It's pretty ghetto sometimes but at least it gets the job done.

Oooh, light professional in the making, eh? Lighting Design or electrician work?
As for the kind of board that is...pft. I can't tell you. ~sOamazinghere called it an ETC board so I'll say that. Unfortunately the actor still hasn't learned the names of the lightning equipment. Its a pretty badass light board though. I love having everything programed in to the computer so I just have to hit the GO button during the performance. Except for the train lights. And you can't see it here, but there were lights around the proscenium that had a chance sequence. Those two had their own special sub-masters so I could control them separately. We also have a student run theatre group on campus that I run lights for too. They have this itty bitty tiny ass light board where you have to control every single dimmer by hand. Luckily they only use like 4 channels.
