Summer Forest Mask

Please forgive the slight blurriness, the lighting in this room is terrible and I despise the flash...

This week in advanced acting class we're going to be doing mask work and so, my ever slightly crazy but always wise acting professor instructed us that we were to make our own masks for our homework. Technically, we're not supposed to let anyone else in the class see it until classtime. I hope none of the have dA accounts....

This was made with a cheap plastic mask that I purchased at Micheal's as a base. Using liberal amounts of tacky glue, I glued on the leaves that I found on the way back from class, dusted the edges with some gold paint, soaked some hemp twine in the gold paint and lined the eye holes with it, then brushed the entire thing with some more watered down tacky glue, sprinkling some gold glitter on for effect.

I'm really rather proud of it, I may even do a set of seasonal masks ( I have a cool idea for winter). My original plan was to paint some sticks gold and glue them on like a small crown on the top. However the sticks didn't really want to stay and after I finished with the leaves I thought it would be over kill.

Done over three days.
